Life-saving clinical care for Gaza children with congenital heart disease

Each year, over three hundred (300) babies in the Gaza Strip are born with heart disease. Due to a complete lack of specialist facilities in Gaza to care for these sick babies, the PCRF initiated a plan to establish a new Pediatric Cardiac Center in Gaza. The main objectives of this program are to provide urgent, life-saving clinical care for Gaza children with congenital heart disease and to provide training and experience for the local medical personnel, enabling the development of services within the local health care system. The unit is being placed in an established and well managed hospital in Khan Yunis, The European Gaza Hospital, which has established pre and post operative facilities and is giving the space for the unit. This keeps the capital cost to a very reasonable level. In addition to the capital costs to establish the unit, the Healing Hearts Campaign will provide funding for the required specialist care from the PCRF visiting medical teams. These volunteer teams give their time free of charge, so the costs required are for medication and the logistical costs needed to allow 36 medical missions over the first two-year period to help ensure that the unit functions to it’s maximum potential. Your donation will help us provide life-saving surgeries to children in desperate need of cardiac procedures which were previously unavailable in the region.
