Description

Learning About New Mexico's Wildlife at PEECSummer Family Evenings at PEEC are back! Tuesday evenings in June and July, PEEC invites families and people of all ages to join in the fun. Starting off the series is an evening with the Land of Enchantment Wildlife Foundation (LEWF). Dr. Kathleen Ramsay, along with other board members from LEWF and volunteers from the Santa Fe Raptor Center, will present the many different species of animals people can encounter here in New Mexico. They will also discuss effective ways we can live in harmony with our animal friends. The evening is free for PEEC members, and costs $10 for non-PEEC families, regardless of how many are in the family. No advance registration is required.

The presentation will be a small lecture with ample time for Q&A. The program will be hands-on and fun, and LEWF will furnish different animal skulls and pelts that people can view. In addition, the Santa Fe Raptor Center will bring one or more birds.

The presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m., so those wishing to hear the presentation should plan to arrive at the start of the event. However drop-ins are welcome throughout the program, to view the materials and ask questions of the presenters.

LEWF was founded to support the many rehabilitation operations across the state of New Mexico. The organization's mission is to help the wildlife of New Mexico by providing financial and logistical aid to the people whom help rehabilitate the animals of New Mexico. This will be done by providing those operations with assistance for enclosures, transportation, medical treatment, food and volunteers. LEWF was founded by Dr. Kathleen Ramsay, Melissa Riggs, James Robinson, Tyrone Horak, and Daniel Archuleta.
