Description
Join Steve Vrooman, owner and president of Santa Fe-based design/build firm Keystone Restoration Ecology, for an informative talk about projects in the Valles Caldera National Preserve (VCNP) with the non-profit Los Amigos de Valles Caldera. As a project designer, implementation contractor and lead of the monitoring team for Los Amigos de Valles Caldera, Vrooman brings a unique perspective on the projects. The organization's work at the VCNP involves creating new techniques with GIS and LIDAR, to evaluate landscapes for erosion and restoration potential.
Vrooman was raised in Los Alamos and his early experiences in the natural environment led him to receive a Masters in Ecology from UNLV. He went on to found Keystone Restoration Ecology (KRE) in 2001, which specializes in the ecosystem restoration of natural and man-made landscapes using the sciences of ecology and geomorphology. KRE has extensive experience in watershed assessment, water-harvesting, road design, stream, wetlands and rangelands restoration and monitoring techniques. Vrooman is a designer of over 30 stream and wetland restoration projects in the desert southwest.
