Ever wonder how the County's compost is made?  Tour the composting operation at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Bayo Canyon with Department of Public Utilities staff and find out!  The County compost facility utilizes three types of recyclable waste in producing the compost.  The waste streams include waste from the horse stables on North mesa, sludge or biosolids from the Wastewater Treatment Plant and wood waste.  The finished product is then collected and stored at the Eco Station on East Jemez road where it is available for free to utility customers.  The process includes building long windrows that need to be turned using special machinery.
