Description

Green Hour Hikes with PEECThanks to Carrie Talus, Green Hour Hikes will start up again this summer! Join Carrie on select Thursdays in July and August. Meet at local trailheads for meandering hikes where kids set the pace and decide the activities.

Join the discussion about where to meet each week by joining the PEEC Family Nature Yahoo Group.  You'll need a Yahoo address to sign up, but can have messages go to whatever email address you'd like (even if it's not Yahoo).

Disclaimer: The group does not necessary stay together due to different interests / walking speed of kids.  The group leader is only a facilitator of the activity but parents need to be familiar with traveling in the outdoors.

The National Wildlife Federation recommends that parents give their kids a "Green Hour" every day, a time for unstructured play and interaction with the natural world.[3] This is part of NWF's strategy called Reversing Nature Deficit. The Green Hour program teaches that unstructured play can take place in a garden, a backyard, a nearby park, or any place that provides safe and accessible green spaces where children can learn and play.

See more at NWF's Be Out There page.

This program is free.
