Greetings All! I'm sitting here in my living room preparing for a 3-day bike trip on the C & O Canal. This trip is a training trip for a longer one that I hope to take in late summer...with your support.

On September 9th, Pam Metzger and I will walk out the door of the western Pennsylvania office of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (also known as Pam's house) and will pedal our bikes about 88 miles through Ohiopyle State Park to Point State Park in Pittsburgh. Riding on the Great Allegheny Passage, we will test our will power and humor as we ride to support parks and forests.

How do you fit into the equation? I am writing to you today to ask for your financial support. Our goal is to raise $5000 for the work of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. If we meet our goal, upon arrival at Point State Park we will sing one verse of a special rendition of the Queen song "Bicycle Race" while standing at the fountain. If we DOUBLE our goal, we will sing two verses. If we TRIPLE our goal, we will sing the entire song. If we QUADRUPLE our goal, we will tape our performance and put it on Youtube and Facebook. (Now Joe wants to know if there is a way to pay us NOT to sing.....)

As Queen fans, we apologize in advance for any disservice we do to the song, as neither Pam nor I are known for our singing abpility. We are, though, known for being fun, so in the name of supporting PPFF we're willing to make sacrifice of our dignity and sing in public.

If you are receiving this email it's because you know me and the work we do at PPFF or your love our public lands. Either way, I hope that you will consider supporting our efforts and our work. The Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation has been making a difference in Pennsylvania for 15 years--improving parks and forests through the establishment of friends groups, special programs and projects (such as increased accessiblity), trainings, engagement of people in recreation, and marketing. Help us continue to make a difference today...be a part of the solution.

What could be more fun than watching us sing, off key, in front of an unknown public? Perhaps joining us for the ride, creating your own fundraisng page, or joining us for the song (bring your bike bell)!

Thank your for your support. I need to go warm up my vocal chords for some singing in September.
