The battle cry at the beginning of the ministry of Jesus was very stirring: 'The time is fulfilled; repent and believe the good news; the kingdom of God
has come near'. What did the words mean in 1st Century Judea? How do the words color the narrative of Mark's Gospel? How should we understand them
today? We will examine Mark's Gospel as the foundation of the Synoptic gospel accounts and the unique ways in which Mark narrates the story of
Jesus.
