It's the most wonderful time of the year.

We constantly hear stories of success such as the past participant who became a San Francisco 49ers Cheerleader, to the recognition R.O.C.K. has received from the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, to Hilda, who as you will read, was so inspired at R.O.C.K.’s camps as a kid that she decided to pursue a career in Forestry.  These stories are a direct result of your support and love for R.O.C.K.  Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to positively impact so many young people.

Warm wishes to you and yours this holiday season!

Farewell to Lota

Last month, our team had to say goodbye to one of our most loved team members, Lota Gaetos.  Lota began her career with R.O.C.K. as an afterschool program tutor.  No matter what circumstance, she always made time to help others and have fun with the kids and staff she worked with.  Her compassionate attitude and dedication propelled her growth at R.O.C.K. from Middle School SALT Coordinator to Family Services Coordinator and eventually to Middle School Program Co-Coordinator.

Lota is most remembered by our staff for all the times she made us laugh uncontrollably, smile with the kids we work with and eat like there is no tomorrow.  We know that wherever she goes she will be a joy to work with and wish her the best of luck with her future plans.

Hilda the Hydrologist

Hilda grew up participating in R.O.C.K. programs. She remembers one Skills Drills soccer team in particular that lost… a lot.  As an adult, she traces this early lesson of resilience in the face of defeat, to her happiness in finding her current career.  Hilda believes that life is not about profits or accolades, but instead enjoying yourself in whatever you do.

You can certainly see how this lesson has persisted in her career today.  Hilda is a Hydrologist. Beyond being a ridiculously catchy title, Hilda’s job includes...Click to read the full article.
