Description
In this resource, we measured reaction times and brainwaves while looking at the contributions of narrative and meaning in sequential images. The results point to a system of comprehension guiding sequential images that is broadly analogous to what is involved in processing verbal language: both sentences and sequential images require the combination of meaning (semantic relatedness) and structure (narrative structure/syntax) to build context across a sequence, and such context can be used incrementally during online comprehension.
