Hi friends!

It's time for my annual online campaign for Student Action with Farmworkers. (Click here to skip The Ask and donate.)

If you've been following my escapades this year, you will know that this is my first campaign as an honest-to-goodness member of SAF staff! After years on the board of directors and the fundraising team, they saw fit to offer me the position of bonafide Finance Manager.

My first year...

  • Registration table at the 2014 End of Summer Celebration

  • Presbyterian Hunger Program site visit with Andrew Kang Bartlett

  • Solidarity with FLOC action at Couche-Tard stockholder meeting

  • Decorating our entry for the Triangle Christmas Tree Challenge

Decorating Tree

  • Break during our quarterly staff retreat in Duke Gardens

 Staff retreat

  • Dance flash mob at Nadeen's 5 year anniversary party

Nadeens1

  • Staff lunch at Monuts, also a founding Durham Living Wage employer

 Monuts

  • Cheffing it up at a summer donor appreciation party

Chapel Hill Donor Social

  • and literally Into the Fields with the theater interns in Bunn, NC

As you can see, just your typical finance manager stuff...

Will you support SAF this year?

While it looks like I'm having the time of my life (and I am), I am very serious about raising my fundraising goal each year for SAF. This organization not only does the work in the fields and with its coalition partners, it does this work while cultivating young activists, arming them with the tools they need to be socially conscious organizers in their home communities. Not only do we have our flagship summer internship for college students, we have an academic year internship working directly with our staff, a program for farmworker youth in Johnston County, and now a next-level Student Organing School for alumni of our program at local universities.  Read more about SAF's Student Organizing Programs...

I knew from my previous work with SAF that our programs were effective, but every day in the office brings new opportunities to appreciate and learn from the knowledge, compassion, and dedication of our seven full-time employees, all of whom are alumni of SAF's internship program themselves.

In honor of my collegues, I will continue to offer this same token of thanks for all donors of $100 or more. These donors received a coupon for a  "Cris" prize - homemade dog biscuits, fly-fishing lesson, vegetarian casserole, music video to your favorite pop song - whatever you request.. A drawing for a "Cris" prize will also be made from ALL donors to the campaign when it ends August 12, so a donation of any amount is appreciated!

Breakdown to my reach goal:

One $1250 donor (receives a free "Cris" service and a handmade card)

or two $500 and one $250 donors (both of whom receive a free "Cris" service and a handmade card)

or five $250 donors (all of whom receive free "Cris" services and handmade cards)

or thirteen $100 donors (all of whom receive free "Cris" services and handmade cards)

or  twenty-five $50 donors (all of whom receive handmade cards)

or fifty $25 donors (all of whom receive handmade cards)

or one hundred and twenty-five $10 donors (all of whom will be thanked on this website and facebook)

Thanks so much for all you do,

Cris
