Since our inception in 1992, nearly 1000 SAFistas have increased access to health, legal, education, and organizing support for over 100,000 farmworkers and their family members. As a result of SAF, these young people stay engaged in social justice. According to our most recent survey of alumni, post-internship, 51% have worked with farmworkers and 63% have worked with a nonprofit as a result of their participation in a SAF program. 

We hope that you’ll consider making a donation that is significant to you to not only honor our accomplishments supporting young people to improve the lives of farmworkers, but also to support SAF’s efforts to invest further in young activists. Your gift will enable us to build our new national alumni advisory group and mentoring program to support alumni engaged in farmworker and immigrant rights work in isolated areas of NC. 

In addition to making a contribution in honor of SAF's 25th, we also hope you’ll be able to visit one of our 25-year exhibits and events - from Durham to Dudley to DC. As a part of our anniversary year, we curated a bilingual exhibit, newsprint, and website that represents the more than 350 documentary projects in SAF’s archive.

For 25 years, Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF) has been developing the leadership of young people to improve the lives of farmworkers. SAFistas not only conduct outreach and link farmworkers to services in the community, but also work in solidarity with farmworkers to advocate for policy change, organize their communities, and educate others about social justice, while building the skills of young people who continue to fuel the movement.

All 25-year donors that contribute at least $250 ("Compañeros") will receive a copy of our limited edition newsprint "Mas de una Historia/More Than One Story", which features stories of life, borders, work, family and hope, and resistance by the men, women, and children who plant, pick, pack, and process our food every day. 

SAF works with farmworkers, students, and advocates in the Southeast and nationwide to create a more just agricultural system. Since our foundation in 1992, we have engaged thousands of students, farmworker youth, and community members in the farmworker movement.

·       Over 100,000 farmworkers and their family members have gained access to health, legal, and education resources provided by SAF interns and fellows in the Carolinas

·       938 college students from universities across the country and youth in NC have learned about farmworker rights and advocated for farmworker justice as a result of SAF leadership programs

·       More than 150 community organizations and university groups have partnered with SAF on critical issues such as migrant housing reform and access to higher education for immigrant students

·       Thousands of individuals are more aware of farmworker issues and more empowered to take action because of SAF's community engagement work, including National Farmworker Awareness Week

·       Farmworkers live and work under more dignified conditions because of SAF’s successful advocacy in support of migrant housing and pesticide reform and solidarity with farm labor organizing groups that have won contracts yielding higher wages, grievance procedures and human rights on the job
