Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals

5k Trail Race and Kid's Fun Run

Saturday, April 23, 2016, 9:00 am

The Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals features a popular 5k chip-timed trail race and untimed walk through Odiorne Point State Park. Now in its eighth year, our popular Race follows the 5k cross-country trail route created by Jennifer Shultis, captain of Team Eastern Mountain Sports, 2006 US Adventure Racing National Champions. You'll run through the forest, by the rocky shore, across a sandy beach, and alongside historic military fortifications.

The first 175 registrants for the 5k receive a free official race t-shirt. Race shirts will be available for purchase for $10 at the time of registration. Prizes are awarded in age and gender categories from 6 to 60+, as well as, overall fastest male and female for the 5k (must run in the <8 min. pace/mile to qualify for overall winner).

The Kids Fun Run features a 300-yard dash and a half-mile run for children ages 12 and under. Every child that participates in the Fun Run wins a prize!

Following the race, enjoy a light runner’s breakfast, music, fun ocean-themed activities, and even a mock seal rescue for the kids!

Whether you plan to race, run or walk with a group of friends or your family, you can choose a team name and register as a team at a discounted price. Teams must have 5 or more participants. We encourage you to get creative with matching costumes and fanfare!

Please remember that dogs are not allowed in Odiorne Point State Park. Strollers are not permitted on the 5k trail. Children, age 12 and under, must be accompanied by an adult on the 5k.

Special thanks to sponsors Kennebunk Savings, ReVision Energy, Run Portsmouth, z107 and 95.3 The Bull.

Want to do more to support Marine Mammal Rescue in New Hampshire?

All of the proceeds from the Rescue Run go to our Marine Mammal Rescue and ocean education efforts, but that is not enough. We need your help! Seals can't pay to be rescued and we rely on our community to keep our Marine Mammal Rescue Team ready to respond. Please consider making a donation to our Marine Mammal Rescue Fund when you register or on race day. Thanks to a generous challenge gift by local resident Bobbie Sweet, every dollar donated to our Marine Mammal Rescue Fund will be doubled (up to $20,000).

Register online through 4/21 or the morning of, 7:30am-8:45am.
