Letter from the President
Happy New Year! 2016 is upon us and I am excited for this year for many reasons, especially endless possibilities. The ability to dream and to see those dreams start to come to fruition. I want to encourage each one of you to take a little time to sit down and write out your dreams and things you are passionate about. Take those dreams and possibilities to God in prayer. Take some risks and see what God does. Be careful not to dream according to the size of your checkbook or capabilities. Remember God is BIG, WILD and a CREATIVE GENIUS and "we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us." Phil 4:13
So often we put God in a box without even realizing it because frankly we just don't think like God. He wants to do so much in and through us, we just need to let Him. Pray for me and I will pray for you that we can be radically obedient this year and let's see what happens. It will be interesting to take an inventory a year from now to see how we have progressed over the past year. Love you all and blessings to you and your family.
Things are moving along well. The building is 85% deconstructed and we have another work weekend scheduled for this weekend to finish things up. We are obtaining our building permit this week and have already started the bidding process with hopes to begin construction by February 1st. We hope to open our doors by the end of April. Please continue to pray for safety, volunteers, in kind and monetary donations, grace and God's favor. Thank you to all who have participated and will volunteer in the future. We sure could not complete this project without you!
Our fundraising committee has been working overtime
gathering prizes for the silent auction and working out all the details for our first annual Gala for
Shelter at Buck & Honey’s on Sunday February 21, 2016. Donating items to the Gala's silent auction would be a great marketing tool for your business! Please email Michelle Hanley at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would be interested in donating an item. Items may be dropped off at A+ Storage, 691
Commercial Ave, Sun Prairie, WI 53590.
In addition, our Dine for Shelter events are scheduled for
the third Thursday of every month at local restaurants. The first one
is scheduled for THIS Thursday, January 21st at Willy Ty’s. They are taking
reservations to ensure you receive exceptional service. Please call (608)
318-1057 to set your reservation.
Next month, Eddie’s Alehouse and Eatery will be our host site on February 18th. Eddie’s Chicken
Mikey Sandwich is super delicious! If you are unable to attend our monthly "Dine" event on the scheduled night,
each restaurant will have donation boxes on site for the entire month they are our host.
It is our prayer that these events will cover the
shelter’s monthly utility expenses once we are open. We would love for you to pray this for us as
well and help spread the word within your network of friends and family.
I would like to extend a huge thank-you to all of the
individuals who volunteered on the two Saturdays in December at the shelter. From
bringing food, to praying for us, to actually swinging a
sledge hammer and tearing down walls, we would not have accomplished any of it
without all of you. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK-YOU!! In the coming
months as the shelter gets built out, we will be developing the processes for
volunteer intake and training so we can start using all of you who God has
called, to help us. We are currently looking for about 20 individuals who would
like to be greeters and silent auction table attendants for our "Gala for
Shelter" event at Buck & Honey’s on Sunday February, 21 from 6-9 p.m. If you
are interested in being one of these 20 individuals, please email me at email@example.com
“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in
full – pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and
poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get
back.” Luke 6:38 NLT

**please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help in any of these areas!
Prayer is the foundation of what we do around here. We have identified three areas of prayer:
1. Prayer for clients: We would like to have 2 or 3 intercessors per client. We recommend to our intercessors to read scriptural prayers out of the book, "Prayers that Avail Much-Anniversary Edition" over their client daily. Our case managers forward on specific prayer requests and praise reports periodically.
2. Weekly prayer requests from the board/volunteers: Every Monday, prayer requests from volunteers and board members will be send through email. This prayer is more for the day to day operations of the ministry.
3. Neighborhood prayer: We are asking for people to physically walk or drive a specific route through our building's neighborhood. You can sign up to walk or drive on specific days.
Please email email@example.com if you would like to be involved in any of these three areas of prayer.

"The generous person will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed." Proverbs 11:25
"The Spirit of the Lord is with us. He has anointed us
to tell the Good News to the poor. He has sent us to announce forgiveness to
the prisoners of sin and the restoring of sight to the blind, to forgive those
who have been shattered by sin, AND we proclaim “2016” the year of the Lord's favor."
