7:45            Registration and Light Breakfast

8:15             Opening Remarks

8:30-11:30   Morning Sessions 1-5

1.) Belle Center: Brighter Day and Loving Heart’s staff only!

   We all know what it feels like to be the ADULT in the classroom but what does it feel to be the young CHILD in our care?

     1. Better understand the daily challenges experienced by a child with special needs.

     2. Increase my ability to plan and modify (even last minute) to meet the needs of individual children.

     3. Gain insight into how I can help every child in my classroom experience success.

 

2.) Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America: “The ABC’s of Asthma and Allergies”:

 The ABC’s of Asthma program is designed to educate the community, especially school personnel or parents, on the identification of asthma signs, symptoms, triggers, and effective management of this chronic disease. The ABC's of Allergies is the counterpart to our asthma portion.

 

Closed   3.) Normandy Fire Protection District: CPR and First Aid

   Adult, Child and Infant CPR:  Topics covered include adult CPR, adult foreign body airway obstruction, child CPR, child foreign body airway obstruction, infant CPR, infant foreign body airway obstruction, personal safety, emergency response, caring for shock. All participants will practice and become proficient in hands on training with a manikin.

   Pediatric First Aid: Topics covered include: Personal safety, emergency response, bleeding control, caring for shock. Recognizing and assessing pediatric emergencies·Treatment of traumatic injuries, including cuts and scrapes, burns, eye injuries, nose bleeds fractures and head injuries. Treatment of medical emergencies, including asthma, allergic reactions, seizures and poisonings.

         ******Certification cards are valid for 2 years.

 

4.) United 4 Children:  “A Place For All Children:  Supporting Children with Autism, Emotional

       Disorders and Language Delays”

 After this session, you will know some specific approaches to assist children who have autism, emotional disorders and language delays.  You will also learn how to support these children by adapating the environment, activities and other daily experiences.  This module will enable you to provide support after a diagnosis is made.

             1.  Identify three primary characteristics of autism spectrum disorder (ASD)

             2.  Identify "red flags" for emotional disorders

             3.  Learn strategies to support children with ASD and Emotional Disorders

 

 

5.) United 4 Children: “The Environment as the Third Teacher”

         In this session teachers will look at their classroom through the eyes of their students. How do you think they see your classroom ? Does your classroom environment give children important messages and cues to support their learning? What are the three key aspects of the classroom environment?

7.) United 4 Children: “Art and Creactivity”

This session will promote play & "creactivity" using opened materials that are developmentally appropriate, which allows children to grow and learn. Understanding the developmental importance of play.

   Using open-ended material to create art.

9.) United 4 Children: Move 2 Learn; Infant Toddler Intern Program

  **Attn. Level III I/T teachers! You must enroll in this session!

This is the official Move 2 Learn Orientation Training for the PAQ Level III Infant and Toddler teachers. The training will include an overview of the Move 2 Learn project and its goals. This will be followed by training pieces on the Brain-Body learning connection using Rae Pica’s research, a brief review of infant/ toddler ages and stages and an small group brainstorming session on translating physical activity ideas into DAP lesson plans.

 

10.) Ready Readers; “Our Books, Your Curriculum, Bridging the Gap”

Use interactive read-aloud to build a community of motivated learners through classroom-proven ideas that will engage young readers and develop their listening, comprehension, and emergent literacy skills. 1) To encourage making literacy and reading aloud part of the everyday classroom routine. 2) To show how to use children's literature in connection with other areas of learning throughout the classroom. 3) To show how regular group reading sessions can improve the skills needed for children to engage and learn across the curriculum.
