Hi friends - I’m so happy that you have been led to my support page! I am overjoyed that the Lord is guiding me to join in His work in Uganda through the 2016 Sozo summer internship. After over a year of prayer and anticipation, this dream the Lord has placed on my heart is finally becoming a reality. I am so expectant for how He is going to use this team to change lives for His purpose and I am so humbled that I get to be a small part of it.

I believe Jesus began to instill in me a passion for His children through missions when I went on my first mission trip to a special needs orphanage in Beijing, China in 2013. There, the Lord changed my heart and has since continued to grow and mature me. Since moving to Tuscaloosa my freshman year, I have gained so much reassurance in the Lord’s purpose and calling on my life – to be obedient to where He leads and to simply GO. I am planning on graduating next December with a degree in Child Life and Early Childhood Education, then spending a final semester interning at a Children’s hospital somewhere in the country. In the midst of my confusion, doubt, and attempts to over-plan my future, I know that He is sovereign, and the one thing I am confident of at this point is that He is guiding me to spend this summer loving His children in Uganda. I am hoping to be spiritually challenged and experience growth during these nine weeks like never before – I am praying that the Lord truly uses me as His vessel, for His glory.

We are planning on leaving at the very end of May and are set to return at the beginning of August. Through our over two months there, we will have the opportunity to build relationships with the children in Sozo care, as well as minister to children and families in areas outside of Sozo sponsorship. We will also be working on the 28 acres of land Sozo recently purchased to help reach Ugandan families!

I am asking above all, for partners in prayer as the intern team and I prepare for this life-changing summer. Please pray not only for our hearts, but also for each and every person we will come into contact with as we embark on this Commission – that they would experience the relentless love of Jesus Christ and that their lives would be forever changed.

I also ask that you prayerfully consider supporting myself and the rest of the team financially. I am believing that where God guides, He will also provide! Should you be led to donate, please know that every amount, no matter how small, is incredibly appreciated!

Donations can be made either online on this page [there is a small fee for online transactions], or by check: checks with my name in the memo line can be made out to Sozo Children and mailed directly to the Sozo office at 4 41st Street South, Birmingham AL 35222, or checks can be mailed directly to me at 122 Millsford Drive, Madison AL 35758. All donations made out to Sozo are also completely tax-deductible!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to each of you for believing in me and for investing in the Lord’s calling on my life!

With love,

Jennifer

“Everything is interim. Everything is a path or a preparation for the next thing, and we never know what the next thing is. Life is like that, of course, twisty and surprising. But life with God is like that exponentially. We can dig in, make plans, write in stone, pretend we're not listening, but the voice of God has a way of being heard. It seeps in like smoke or vapor even when we've barred the door against any last-minute changes, and it moves us to different countries and different emotional territories and different ways of living. It keeps us moving and dancing and watching, and never lets us drop down into a life set on cruise control or a life ruled by remote control. Life with God is a dancing dream, full of flashes and last-minute exits and generally all the things we've said we'll never do. And with the surprises comes great hope.” // Shauna Niequist
