Current Volunteer Needs

Contact Volunteer Coordinator Luke Safford to sign up for these events, and see tucsonaudubon.org/volunteer for details.

Tabling Event: Habitat at Home needs 1-2 people to help at our table during the Homescape Harvest Tour at Watershed Management (1137 N. Dodge Blvd.) this Saturday from 11-2pm.

Tucson Meet Yourself: On October 7--9th Tucson Audubon will have a booth at this amazing folk-life festival and we need your help staffing it (8 shifts left)

OktoBIRDfest: How many of you would like a free drink? We need 2 volunteers to greet people, 2 to work at the membership table, and 1 to take pictures—each of these volunteers gets a free drink ticket for our evening celebration on October 18 at La Cocina.

Tucson Meet Your Birds on Oct. 22, 7am--1pm: Hundreds of visitors came to our last Tucson Meet Your Birds in February and we expect an even bigger turnout this time. We have 26 of our 50 volunteer spots filled, but we would like them all to be taken soon! Please check out our openings here.

Posting Flyers: We want to get the word out about Tucson Audubon’s fabulous events—can you help us by putting up some flyers around town? If so, we have material to give you at either our Nature Shop on University Blvd. or at the Mason Center.

Success at Living With Nature Season Kickoff!

Words on Water: A Literary Celebration of the San Pedro launched this year's Living with Nature, our free public series. Some of Tucson’s nationally-recognized authors, Alison Hawthorne Deming, Ken Lamberton, and Richard Shelton offered readings inspired by their passion for the San Pedro River. 82 people attended this follow-up to our June event, Storytelling on the San Pedro, which drew about 200. Learn more about the night and more about all our Living With Nature programs here.

Your collective support and your voice give weight and gravitas to our conservation and advocacy efforts on behalf of significant issues like preserving the Southwest’s last major free-flowing river. If you wish to learn more about why membership matters, please click here.

New in the Nature Shop in Time for Fall Planting!

Native Seed Company Wildflower Seeds
The Native Seed Company is a family owned business of Tucson natives established in 1995. These species were chosen for their ease of germination, and ability to flourish in our desert climate conditions.
Bird & Butterfly: A specially selected mix of flowers that are known to be enticing attractants for both birds and butterflies and reseed themselves for future years of garden and wildlife enjoyment.
Desert Bloom: A classic mix of beautiful desert wildflowers, specially selected for their ability to thrive in arid, desert climates. After wet winters, many of these varieties (in the wild) will bloom in lush blankets over western desert landscapes.
Sonoran Desert Revegetation: This mix of native desert seeds including some tough wildflowers, grasses, and bushes is designed to cover disturbed areas where re-growth and erosion control is sought.

OPTICS

Swarovski EL 8.5x42
Ever wonder when you’re out birding with other birders and they are describing field marks that you just can’t pick up?  Tired of not being able to figure out which sparrow you’re looking at out at Las Cienegas, is that a Cassin’s or Botteri’s?  Try looking through a premium binocular, like the Swarovski EL, and you’ll start to understand.  Come into the shop and look at the birds at our feeders, especially in the shadows.  If House Sparrows look this good, can you imagine what a Violet-crowned Hummingbird will look like at the Paton’s Center!  You’ll also experience the 3D effect of the view, as the image is sharp from edge-to-edge, a trademark of this binocular that has to be seen to be believed.  And, given the quality and engineering of this brand, you’ll understand why it’s the last binocular you will ever have to buy.  No other binocular provides a better viewing experience and we have never, ever had a customer tell us afterwards that they weren’t sure the purchase was worth it.

Retail $2832.00 Member Price $2548.80

Both available in our Nature Shop. Stop by today!
