Support Our Mentorship

When you think back to your times at Amherst, chances are, you remember all the incredible learning opportunities that came your way: caring professors, supportive staff, and resources you didn't even know you needed. The Common mentors students who are passionate about global literature and publishing. Through our Literary Publishing Internship, we provide five Amherst students with the opportunity to read submissions, run social media, analyze statistics, and design publicity materials for events on campus and beyond. In addition, we offer a Literary Editorial Fellow position for a recent Amherst grad to receive an additiona year of editorial experience. Beyond Amherst, we support students around the world with our The Common in the Classroom program, delivering lesson plans, readings, and a visit with Editor-in-Chief Jennifer Acker. With the unprecedented events of our time, we often worry if we will be able to offer this kind of support, as so much of it depends on funding.

We hope that your memory of how Amherst supported your career goals inspires you to make a gift and help us be there for our students, whether at Amherst College or beyond.
