Tree House Humane Society’s Stray Cat Strut is a fun annual event, which helps educate the public about the plight of stray cats. The money raised will not only help support the rehabilitation, care, and adoption of the cats housed at Tree House, but will also help us reach out to and educate the community about the pressing issue of stray overpopulation and the ways to combat the problem. Please help us turn Chicago into a no-kill city!
The event consists of a 5-mile walk where participants begin at the Bucktown Branch (1629 N. Ashland) and end at the Uptown Headquarters (1212 W. Carmen).

Free parking is available at BurrElementary School across the street from the Bucktown Branch. The Bucktown Branch is also accessible by the #9 Ashland bus, the #72 North Avenue bus, and is located just east of the North/Damen/Milwaukee Blue Line El stop. There will be volunteer drivers shuttling walkers from the Uptown Headquarters back to the Bucktown Branch for two hours following the walk.
We will walk in rain or shine so be prepared for all types of weather. Children under 18 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
CATegorical Care GUIDE:
AM-890 WLS Radio host Steve Dale, certified cat and dog behavior consultant, will be there to welcome back the walkers and to distribute the new CATegorical Care free guide to cat care and welfare and children’s activity books created to support Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month by the American Humane Association and Catalyst Council. These are an indispensable reference for the discerning cat guardian.
We also welcome back the local rescue group, Greyhounds Only, who will be on the walk and at the open house with their adorable, adoptable greyhounds!
