Participate in the Movement to Cure Paralysis

Welcome to Steve Trout's Team SCIS/u2fp Chicago Marathon Page

This is my first race for Unite 2 Fight Paralysis.  The 2015 Chicago Marathon will also be my first marathon.  Jim Frontier, a friend from my running group, suggested raising funds for Unite 2 Fight Paralysis, noting that Kathryn Mahoney is a neighbor and daughter of a long-time family friend.  I am going to need plenty of inspiration to complete the race and can’t think of people who are more inspiring than the folks who complete marathons and other long races on wheels.

Uncle Pete was CPA who had muscular dystrophy.  My brother Bruce and I had many adventures traveling with him in a wheelchair in south Florida, Mexico and Peru. My Dad was a research scientist.  You never know what scientists will come up with, if you give them money for research.

Running has been in our blood. Dad was a runner for 30 years, long before it was fashionable.  Bruce ran the Chicago Marathon 20 years ago and was a nationally ranked distance ranked runner as a kid. Cousin Alex is an ultra distance runner, while cousin John is a mountain biker.

My goal is to simply finish. After joining the Unite 2 Fight Paralysis, there is no turning back.

Please help me raise funds for research to find a cure for spinal cord injury!
