Dear Friends,

This is truly a special edition of our enewsletter, as I write to share some exciting news with you.

Over the course of the last year, the U2FP Board has been working on a Succession Plan for my role as Executive Director. After 12 years of leading the organization, I am ready to “pass the baton” and turn my focus to projects with our Board and partners.

At our annual Board retreat in February, the Board finalized the Succession Plan and selected Matthew Rodreick as our new Executive Director. Matthew has been an integral part of U2FP’s advocacy work for several years, and brings extraordinary passion to serving the SCI community. He will make an outstanding organizational leader. See a message from Matthew below.

As for me, it has been such an honor to be a founder of Unite 2 Fight Paralysis, and to watch the organization and the SCI community grow into a powerful and well-respected force in the movement to bring recovery from  paralysis. I couldn’t be more proud of U2FP and the individuals who live each day with a spinal cord injury. I look forward to transitioning into the role of President of the U2FP Board of Directors.

Hello all,

Almost 7 years ago as a part of our family’s journey with SCI, I wandered into the Working 2 Walk Science and Advocacy Symposium in Phoenix and was introduced to U2FP. Those three days inspired and focused my energies to return home and begin advocating however and wherever I could for cures for my son and everyone else connected to SCI. Ever since, I have been educated, motivated, supported and mentored by the this great organization and the passionate people who created and sustain it.

I am exceedingly honored to be given this opportunity to continue the work of uniting, educating and motivating our community to take the actions necessary to expedite curative therapies for paralysis. Thank you, Marilyn, for your longstanding commitment to Unite 2 Fight Paralysis. You have been, and I trust will continue to be, an invaluable mentor.

As part of this transition I ask you to welcome U2FP’s new Program Manager, Ryan Romine. Ryan comes to us with a great deal of experience working with mission driven organizations, and we are excited that he has agreed to join the team.
