Here we go!
Training has ramped up for the Iron Girl Columbia 2016 triathlon, and I am so thankful to be healthy and able to swim once again in this amazing event! August 7th is approaching fast! Wait, what? What happened to Bike and Run, you say? Well, my son had a major surgery this summer and that really limited my training and I was thinking about pulling out of the event to prevent injury, so when the opportunity to swim as part of a relay team popped up, I snapped it up! I can't wait to walk into Centennial Lake and swim hard for my team and Team Fight!
I had the opportunity to think through a lot of "what ifs" this year and it really impressed upon me the unique difficulties young adults with cancer and their families face. It really impacts every facet of life. That's why I'm hoping you will help me EXCEED my goal this year.
In honor of everyone I've known who has faced cancer and those taken too soon, I'd love to raise more than my goal to help cancer patients and their families find support, navigate through their treatments, rediscover their strength through the Cancer to 5K program, and get help with so many of the things that we take for granted that become huge hurdles in the face of a cancer diagnosis. With over 90% of funds going directly to programming, you know your tax-decuctible donation will directly support young adults with cancer in practical and very positive ways.
Thank you so much for your dontation!
The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. With your support, the Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide free support services and resources for the young adult cancer community including:
Cancer to 5K - a 12-week training program designed to introduce or reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.
Patient Navigation - a free program (onsite at cancer centers and remotely through our office) that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone. We provide one-on-one support & resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer expereience and long-term cancer survival.
Scholarships - a financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.
Your donation will help make these programs and our mission possible!
