Three years ago in May dates my initial introduction to the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults… and what a three years it has been. I joined the team as a summer intern after my junior year in college with a handful of close cancer connections and an interest in UCFs support through sport programs. Little did I know how those three short summer months would change my life.

Fast forward to May of 2016 where I am now a full time employee with UCF and racing in my first ever triathlon!

I could ramble on about why my heart and soul thrives for this organization and the support and services we provide, but there is one defining thing that will always keep me coming back for more…. the people.  

The survivors, the caregivers, the organization’s supporters, the individuals who lost their loved ones, the ones who fight for those who can’t, and for those whose time ran out. Three years later and my ‘handful of close cancer connections’ continues to grow everyday, and I would not change a thing. Every single individual and connection fuels me with the passion, love, strength and motivation to support those impacted by cancer.

At the end of the day, I can kind of swim, am decent at pedaling, and can sorta run… but I am pretty damn excited to give all three a go in support of UCF’s Fight Club program, the young adult cancer fight, and the people! Another opportunity to meet some amazing individuals, spread awareness, and raise some funds.

The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. With your support, the Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide free support services and resources for the young adult cancer community including:

Cancer to 5K - a 12-week training program designed to introduce or reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.

Patient Navigation - a free program (onsite at cancer centers and remotely through our office) that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone. We provide one-on-one support & resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer expereience and long-term cancer survival.

Scholarships - a financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.
