Key 2 Keys holds a special place in my heart. I began this journey when my Mom had cancer when I was in 5th grade. My mom was a young adult when she battled Ovarian Cancer. Little did I know back then that I would find the Ulman Cancer Fund in my future. As my family was going through my Mom's diagnosis of cancer, we had no one to turn to or talk about the disease. Back then, you didn't talk much about Cancer. We got through it with each other and close family and friends. There were no Ulman Cancer Funds. Fast forward to today and I have been touch by cancer too many times. Friends, family, loved ones. It sucks no matter who it is battling. My Mom is a two-time cancer survivor and my role model! She is a lucky one. My grandmother was also a cancer survior as a young adult and I ride for both my Mom and Grandmother each year!
I participated in the 2014 Key 2 Keys bike ride as a support driver and was blown away by this journey! The people, the places, the hope. We started as strangers and became one huge family in just 8 days. Then again in 2015, I was a rider on the team. IT was unbelievable, but it's not about the ride, it's all about the journey. Stopping at Cancer Centers, meeting strangers all along the way just goes to show how cancer touches everyone. We can all help in this fight. Especially for the young adults who are battling this ugly disease. The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. With your support, the Ulman Cancer Fund is able to provide free support services and resources for the young adult cancer community including:
Cancer to 5K - a 12-week training program designed to introduce or reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity.
Patient Navigation - a free program (onsite at cancer centers and remotely through our office) that ensures no young adult ever faces cancer alone. We provide one-on-one support & resources to young adults and their families to help them manage the cancer expereience and long-term cancer survival.
Scholarships - a financial assistance program to help young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one.
