Several years ago I went to Peru on a service trip and was able to see firsthand how poverty stricken communities live. These people lived in shantytowns with no electricity, running water, or sanitation- just to name a few. What is most incomprehensible to me now is the fact that there are actually people who are worse off- so many people around the world lack access to safe, clean water.
After learning of the water crisis I have been very passionate about working to eradicate this issue and began volunteering with Wells Bring Hope in 2014. I hope that Frank and I, along with our friends and family, could one day fund a well and save the lives of those in need. To fund a well through Wells Bring Hope, we must fundraise $5,600.00.
It is amazing what access to safe water can do. Not only does it save lives, particularly those of children, but a well drilled in a village also brings freedom to women and girls. They no longer have to carry heavy water containers for miles every day. The girls can go to school and the women can earn an income.
I encourage you to research the devastation that lack of water has had on our world. A great place to start is wellsbringhope.org. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have!
